Why Build Models

Insights from Our Shoreditch Studio

The most exciting part of physical model-making is the ability to immerse ourselves in the spatial experience of a design. There’s something uniquely powerful about working with something tangible — being able to turn, hold, and move around it.

Physical models help us discover qualities like light, texture, and materiality — aspects that are often missing from digital representations. They bring a kind of immediacy and richness that screens can’t quite replicate.

They also deepen our understanding of scale and proportion. Building models forces us to interrogate our design intentions, make sure they’re clear, and often pushes our creativity further than we expected.
