33 Cavendish Square

Location: Oxford Circus, London
Sector: Commercial
Year: 2022
Client: Berkeley Estate Asset Management
How does a massive 60’s office building get its street presence back?
The reception space at Cavendish Square failed to reflect the scale and quality of the building. .
The solution was to bring back the symmetry and volume of the original design with a clear central focal point; a round reception desk and a 4.5m tall chandelier.
The existing ornate ceiling was retained to reduce waste. The chandelier is demountable to allow for reuse of its components at the end of its life.
The walls and ceiling were darkened to increase visual impact on arrival. This is a trick borrowed from theatre design which enabled us to quieten the complexity of the existing ceiling. The colour was carefully chosen to complement the existing stonework.
M-Sport Racing Hotel

Location: Cockermouth, Cumbria
Sector: Hospitality
Year: 2019
Client: M-Sport Racing
A 120 bed (11,000 sqm) hotel in the foothills of the Lake District on the grounds of the M-Sport Rally complex.
The design of the M Sport Hotel is inspired by both the local landscape of the Lake District and the motorsport heritage of the site.
The attenuation lake at the front of the hotel spreads into a shallow pool to reflect the building in the same way the lakes reflect the mountains making for a memorable arrival. A snaking racetrack leads the visitor across the lake to the hotel entrance. Internally the triangular form, lined in timber, is evocative of country lodges.
概 述 Wellness Hotel + Villa Resort

Our concept, ‘Discovery’, is designed to inspire the visitors of the Ancient Forest of the Guandong Xiangtoushan National Nature Reserve to engage with nature. The design of interweaving walkways invites visitors to explore every layer of the forest and to discover the forest from a new perspective.
The resort expresses itself within every layer of the forest: The Undergrowth, The Understorey, The Canopy and The Emergent Layer. The foundations consist of driven timber piles that allow the buildings to float above the forest floor, ensuring minimal impact on the surrounding ecosystems. The design employs sustainable building materials with minimal carbon footprint, providing durability and allowing the buildings to coexist in harmony with nature.
Satyam Tower

A new tower on the Western Express Way in Mumbai that will house a flagship retail store, 4 cinemas, office space and restaurant together with adjoining residential tower.
Due to the complex mix of uses careful consideration was needed for the organising of programme within the building. Stacking the retail cinema and office to the front of the site with the best visual access from the street has the benefit of protecting the residential tower to the rear.
The commercial tower is made up of a linear core at the rear with stacked boxes to the front with facade treatment that reflects their uses. The ground, first and second floors house retail space which will be occupied by a single tenant. Above this the four cinema screens are located. These screens impact the whole structure of the tower as allowance for column transfers and cantilevers are very limited in Mumbai building regulations. Above the cinema sit 6 floors of office space and the tower is crowned by the roof terrace with a café area.
Muro – Vine Street

Location: Aldgate, London
Sector: Office / Commercial
Year: Ongoing
Size: 3,000 sqft
Client: Crosstree Real Estate
The refurbishment of Muro, Vine Street includes the reception and five office floors. about retaining valuable elements and enhancing the space with thoughtful design, demonstrating that you don’t always need to start from scratch to achieve high quality results.
Located on the site of a section of Roman Wall on Vine Street near Tower Hill.
The focus of this project was to ‘curate’ a design which would work with the existing condition. Our aim was to minimise wastage and with a new vision, begin to sculpt the necessary space.
The existing reception space contained a change in level, messy lighting layout, mis-match materials. We proposed to delineate the space into a cafe space alongside a traditional reception area. The cafe can also function as an informal meeting or workspace, making it an extension of the office spaces above. Making the reception a more attractive space to spend time both activates the street frontage and provides a useful asset for the offices above.
